Pakistan is a country blessed with beautiful and scenic locations with a diverse culture and historic heritage. The country is a site for one of the world’s earliest human settlements such as the Indus Valley Civilization, religions and cultures. The country is home to lofty mountain ranges located in the North, the Himalayas, and the Karakoram through the dissected plateaus to the plains of Punjab. Then there are the barren and dry hills of Baluchistan, dry deserts of Sindh and golden beaches of the Makran coast.
In August, Medialinkers, a renowned web design company in Islamabad, Pakistan, planned a tour to the beautiful Swat Valley of Pakistan. The tourist locations visited by the company employees are discussed below with images:
The beautiful valley of Kalam is situated in Swat across the Swat River, which lies in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. Kalam Valley is renowned for its beautiful waterfalls, lush green hills and lakes. It is located at a drive of 270 km from Islamabad, the capital city of Pakistan. Waterfall on the Way to Mahodand Lake
The valley is home to a number of waterfalls. On the way to Mahodand, you will experience a huge waterfall. There is no particular name for this waterfall, but in the local language, people like to call it ‘bari abshaar.’
Mahodand Lake means “Lake of Fishes” and is situated in the Hindu Kush mountainous ranges. It is located in the upper Usho Valley at a distance of 40 km from Swat District, Kalam, Kashmir and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. You can travel to the lake by a four-wheel drive vehicle which is also used for boating and fishing.
The lake freezes during the winters and gets covered by heavy snow. At the basin, you will find a sheet of alpine flowers such as blue poppy, geum, potentilla and gentian. The lake is also encircled by a wide range of pinus species serving as abode for wild birds. The lake is home to trout fishes which are mostly caught by the licensed fishermen.
Saifulah Lake, lies to the North of Kalam and the Mahudand Lake. The lake is not only famous among the nature lovers but also among the exiotic fish hunters. You can access the valley through an un-metalled road from Kalam in a 4×4 vehicle ending in Mahudand Lake. The road is quite tricky however, the surrounding landscapes will capture you in a severe way to wish for more beautiful panoramas. From Mahudand, there is a track upto maximum an hour leading to Saifullah Lake. The lake is quite similar in appearance to the Mahudand lake. A big waterfall near the Saifullah Lake is a center of attraction among many tourists.
Bahrain is a famous hill station situated in the Swat District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Pakistan. It lies 60 km North of Mingora at a height of 4600 ft on the right bank of the Swat river. It got the name of two rivers for its location at the confluence of the Daral and Swat rivers. Bahrain is popular for its resorts located on the riverside, local handicrafts and an extremely breathtaking view of the river Daral merging with the river Swat.
People of Bahrain have expertise in the cottage industry. This is a reason why you will see wood work is seen everywhere in the region. It also serves as a perfect base camp of a trail leading to Daral and Saidgai lakes.
